skip the light fandango

I was thinking today that I friended a lot of people on my flist to read fics, but I've been bad about giving feedback and reccing. So in an attempt to rectify that, I'm going to do a series of posts to rec my fave fics by authors on my flist.

So here is


50thousandtears: The Last Time is a creepy Wesley/Faith story told from Wesley's perspective.

_elektra: My main rec of Amberina's is A Motel Room in Kansas, which is an Oz/Tara piece told from Tara's pov. I love it because there's no reason going in I should like it-- I'm not a Tara fan really and Tara/Oz in theory is so meh to me, but this little fic is just great. Maybe it's because stoned Tara is so awesome. One Night Stand and Halfway Across the World" have to be recced simply because they're Buffy/Gwen and there just aren't enough of those around.

a2zmom: I seriously recommend all of her stories, but I'm going to specifically pimp Guilt Trembling Spoke My Doom. This is sad, dreary Shanshu Angel in all his glory. This story is B/A friendly, but in the end it's a story of how Angel learns to be a man again when everything he knows about being a good person he learned as a vampire, not a man. Excellent, excellent fic.

alleynyc: Alley wrote one of my favorite B/A futurefics, Mortality. It's set Post-Chosen and follows Buffy through some realizations and subsequent decisions.

amorousfear: When I'm in the mood for dark and beautifully depressing B/A, I go to Leena. My fave is Absolute Zero, a story set in BtVS season 6 that deals with a very depressed Buffy, and a distant, Cordy-mooning Angel. It is the first fic ever that made me cry and I still love it to pieces.

bashipforever: Kristi is a prolific B/A writer, so it's tough to choose between her fics but since I'm forcing myself. . . I'll rec Home for Awhile, a post-NFA B/A fic in which Buffy has to save a grieving Angel. Also, Last Link, a Dawn/Angel/specter of Buffy story. And Girl From Yesterday, in which Kristi makes me like Angel's fiancee, who is not Buffy (doesn't hurt that it's B/A eventually, I guess). Okay, okay, I'm done now.

cadence_k: Fluffy Fuffy? Yes. Secrets.

chrisleeoctaves: What to rec, what to rec? This is painful, really. In my world, no one writes better B/A angst, even when she's doing fluff. And the sex! She says so much in so few, carefully chosen words. I envy her style and pacing so much. So here are my recs: Old Ghosts, a A/B/S fic set post-NFA, One Life, Chrislee's wonderful attempt at angsty fluff (B/A), and Lawless, a heartbreaking and hot look at Angel domming Buffy. But really? You can't go wrong with anything here.

coppersinger: Copper needs to write more, but I'll take what I can get. All B/A 'shippers should read Names if you haven't already. It is short, but perfect.

cornerofmadness: Dana writes fab plot-fic. She has a great mind for inventive plot and cool villains. My current favorite of hers is a WIP, Hyperion's Son, a Connor-centric fic that takes a different spin-off from "Home" into the future. I also love the WIP Leaning on the Edge of E, a story that looks at Connor and Angel getting to know each other as father and son post-NFA.

dlgood: Bakery is a fabulous set of "snapshots" the follow Buffy after Chosen. I love so many things about it, but the Faith/Buffy friendship bits are my favorites. Dave has a good grasp of Buffy's character and his dialog is right on target and really funny.
